How to setup Carbon Filter in a Grow Tent
One of the features attracting the largest attention and is an inevitable effect while cultivating Marijuana is the luscious, unique smell. It’s a pity but that same superb smell is rather simply recognizable, and could be the cause of loads of troubles.
A place where you cultivate your blossoming Cannabis is a non-stop producer of that distinct and strong smell. To stay discrete and worry less about your neighbors you have to neutralize that smell. And the perfect solution for that is the Carbon Filter.
Let’s dive into the process of assembling the ventilation system for a Grow Tent with the use of a Carbon Filter.
Materials you will need for Carbon Filter Setup:
- Step 1. Connect wire to fan, if you have it without wire.
1.1 Open Fan
1.2 Take cable. In regular cable you will find 3 wires.
1. Blue
2. Red
3. and half Yellow half Green
In our case you will use only first 2, blue and red wires. Wire number 3 is for protective earthing and electrical safety. Unfortunately, in our case it is not useful.
1.3 Connect Red and Blue cables in any order.
1.4 Connect your fan to electricity, and check if it is working. Good!
1.5 Close the fan.
2.1 Now you need to connect aluminium ducting pipe to Carbon Filter.
- We will use ducting clip for that. At first set the ducting clip on, and then tighten the screw on the clip as much as you can. We need a really tight connection so that air doesn’t get out.
2.2 Sad moment, we will cut the ducting pipe to set the fan in the middle. Be careful, cut pipe edges can be sharp.
2.3 Connect the fan to the carbon filter.
Pay attention: fan has air flow direction, usually it is marked on the fan itself.
To connect it we will use ducting clip, so we just repeat step 2.1
2.4 Now we need to connect longest part of ducting pipe, which left after cutting, to the fan. Guess what, we will use ducting clip again!
2.5 Great work, friends! So now we need to isolate our connection place, to hold air flow at maximum inside of the pipe. For this we’ll use aluminum duct tape. You can also use regular tape, which is cheaper, but I recommend sticking to the duct tape for it’s higher sealing properties.
2.6 Now you just need to put on your Carbon Filter rag prefilter and install it into the Grow Tent. All Grow Tents have slangs and ventilation windows (holes) for it.
