We all are rookies in one thing and great specialists in other. There’s no person who is absolutely successful in everything and from the first attempt. And the only way to avoid mistakes is just to stay away from doing anything. Growing marijuana is not an exception. The more you practice the better you become. And there’s no point in being afraid of failure as a failure is a first step to your future success. Let’s have a quick look at the list of the most widely spread mistakes people should stay away from while Growing Marijuana.
1. Keep it all a secret.
For the all time – you never ever discuss your Marijuana experiments with anyone. You cannot be 100% sure in anyone, hence the less you say the lower probability is that you will be sold out. If you don’t want to be betrayed just don’t provide any information about something you want to keep a secret. It will save your relations with friends as well as your nerve cells. Keep your Indoor Gardening experiments to your self.
2. Natural sunlight is the best but not enough.
It seems pretty obvious that sunlight is the best and the cheapest type of illumination. Unfortunately it won’t cover all the needs for even Outdoor Growing, leave alone Indoor Growing. Marijuana plants demand all the light you can give them so if you intend to make it serious go and buy lights. It will totally pay off.
3. Be ready and alert.
Like any other activity Cannabis growing has some tricks. You might feel drowning in the information and get tired even thinking of how much different stuff you need for Cannabis plants to be growing healthy. It’s water, nutrients, light, CO2, anti- fungal therapy, certain level of humidity, time and care you can give. Make sure you are ready to get it and think of plan B just in case plants start to show some negatives.
4. Don’t freak out for no particular reason.
Almost any problem you face has happened before. Hence there are some ways to solve it. Sometimes it’s just an indicator of lack of light or may be some element in the soil, or excessive watering etc. A couple of lost leaves doesn’t mean the entire plant is dying right now right here. Search for some reliable information and correct the mistake.
5. Know your fertilizers.
It’s a typical rookie mistake to take any random fertilizer in the store and just hope for the better. Marijuana Plant Growing has a lot of surprises and sometimes they don’t do as great as you would expect them to. Every growth period demands certain fertilizer with different NPK ratio which is right there on the package printed for you. So be prepared and well informed – read the demands in nutrients for every specific period of growth and you won’t get lost in variety of fertilizers.
Best advice for the first time grower about fertilizers is: “DO NOT USE FERTILIZERS AT ALL”.
Yes, you will get less of harvest, but you will not kill your plant, and you will get at least something for sure.
6. Outdoor soil is not an option.
Do you happen to know chemical content of the soil from the nearest lawn? At the very least it is just neutral, no good, no bad. But it as well can contain too much acid or it can be polluted with fungi which will eagerly kill all the result of you hard work growing plants. No matter indoor or outdoor you planting is try to make the pH balance close to 7.0 and infuse the soil with some proper fertilizer. To play safe it’s easier to buy some ready-made packaged soil mixture.
7. Be energetic.
Well, growing Marijuana is nothing like sitting and waiting for the plant to grow big. It will take a lot of care and attention to make those little seeds grow into big and beautiful plants. They have a lot of needs and you are the only one who must provide them with all the necessary nutrients, light, water, ventilation, humidity. Sometimes you even have to talk to them. But in the end it is totally paid off with the result.
8. Root-bound is dangerous.
Cannabis roots tend to grow extremely quickly. In no time they get all the space in the pot up to the bottom. So think about the size of the container in advance as your plants can die due to root-bound. It’s either constant checking and transplanting into bigger pot or a wise choice of a pot in the very beginning. It won’t help to avoid changing pots but it will at least cut the number of possible manipulations with transplanting.
9. Don’t push yourself too hard with pruning.
Yes, pruning helps to increase the intensity of growth. Yes, it is useful for the plant. But try to be reasonable enough not to prune the whole plant. It gets weaker due to excessive pruning and you can potentially lose it and all your hard work will be for nothing.
10. Information makes the world go round.
The more you know the less unpleasant surprises you have while doing what you do. Be wise and study on somebody else’s mistakes to avoid making own. There’s an ocean of information and experience like growing Marijuana bible, a step by step How To Grow from us.
